Songbird Sara Jewelry

I think this vintage engagement ring is just dreamy! It features the most delicious chunky old mine cut diamond, measuring 5mm and estimated at .55-.60cts. It is totally eye clean and has really beautiful white color (estimated H-I). Old mine cuts were cut during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, and got their names because they were cut by hand at the site of their mine of origin. Old mine cuts are beloved for their personality, their chunky, sometimes irregular broad facets, their delightful flash of pastel colored fire, and their dramatic culets (bottom facet), which reflect around the stone creating a “kozibe effect”. The platinum setting is from 1950 and is engraved on the inside, which I think is the most romantic thing ever! It says “Q.J.S. to D.R.C. 11-24-50”! This is likely a family diamond that was set in a “modern” setting for this couple for their 1950 wedding or engagement. The center stone is set in fishtail prongs, which make the stone appear larger. The .04ct side stones are box set, also enhancing their size. The ring is a size 6.5 and can be resized. A good jeweler will do their best to size down in a place that does not remove the engraving
