Once upon a time in America during the 1950s, a young couple celebrated their engagement with a very special ring, mixing "modern" styles and diamond cuts of the day with some sentimental diamonds that they had inherited. This beautiful midcentury diamond ring is crafted from 14k white gold and features a central trio of diamonds in sleek bezel settings. The middle diamond is an Early Modern Round Brilliant diamond which was cut during the 1950s. It is approximately 4.2mm in diameter (a calculated 0.30cts), near colorless, eye clean and, extremely well cut and lively. It is flanked by an Old European cut diamond and an Old Mine cut diamond which were cut in generations past. The Old European measures 3.5mm (a calculated 0.17ct), is near colorless, eye clean, and has the most delightful floral kaleidoscope facet pattern with excellent symmetry and a lovely open culet. The Old Mine cut diamond measures 1.9mm in diameter (a calculated 0.025cts) and is adorably chunky and wonky! It is near colorless and eye clean, with some inclusions visible under magnification. A true marvel of this piece is how all three distinct cuts behave so beautifully together, throwing sparkles in their own distinct ways, but each one pulling equal weight to make this ring the sparklebomb that it is! The three main diamonds are surrounded by an assortment of other old cut diamonds, including Old Mine cuts, old single cuts, and even a rose cut! The face of the ring measures 17.5mm x 12.4mm and rises 4.4mm at its highest point. The way the diamonds are set and the way this ring fits close to the finger makes it an excellent and comfortable choice for daily wear. This would be a beautiful and sentimental engagement ring, as well as the perfect statement ring for a diamond enthusiast and old cut collector. It is a singular conversation piece and a must have for a sentimental collector who strives to be a steward for these wearable pieces of history. This ring is currently a size 5.25 and can be easily sized by a trusted jeweler.
