Songbird Sara Jewelry

This fantastic late Art Deco 5-stone ring comes to us from beautiful Amsterdam and is named for Pirate Jenny from Kurt Weill and Bertold Brecht's The Threepenny Opera which premiered in Berlin 1928. (It's a fascinating theater piece that combines opera, jazz, and cabaret styles, and is even more fascinating to me because it was written by a Jewish composer. Weill and his wife/muse Lotte Lenya who premiered most of his pieces, were able to escape Germany for America in 1933.) Hits from The Threepenny Opera include "Mack the Knife" and "Pirate Jenny" which have remained firmly in the American Songbook/Jazz/Cabaret cannon in many different forms. This ring feels very Weill/Brechtian to me! The supports on the sides of the ring remind me of the bare sets associated with this theater movement. Layered on top of such a bare face, Weill's music with its haunting jazz melodies was truly able to shine, just as these diamonds do here. The ring is crafted from 14k white and yellow gold and features 5 very lively and well-cut Old European/Transitional cut diamonds with a total carat weight of approximately 0.50cts/ They are H/I color and have eye clean SI1/SI2 clarity. This ring is a size 7.25 and easily sized by a trusted jeweler. It is 18mm wide across the ringer and rises 3.88mm from the top of the finger. Due to the width of the ring across the finger, I would not recommend sizing this ring to anything smaller than a size 5.
