It's hard to imagine a more romantic ring! This ring dates dates back to the 1930s and features a stunning old mine cut diamond that was likely cut a generation or so earlier. This exquisite antique diamond is approximately 5.8mm x 5.5mm in diameter and based on measurements, is estimated to weigh .90cts. This is a fantastic example of an old mine cut/antique cushion cut with a delightfully tall crown, chunky facets, large culet, and wonderful kozibe effect!! It is an estimated I color (near colorless) and is eye clean with only a couple very small and well hidden inclusions visible under magnification. Old mine cuts were cut by hand at the site of the mine, and were designed to sparkle by candlelight and lamp light. This fireball of a diamond throws rainbows and glimmers in even the dimmest of light! In the sun, it's almost blinding! The setting is made of 14k white and yellow gold and features 6 small old single cut diamonds. The center diamond is held be secure fishtail prongs, and even has an extra secure half bezel around the stone, which has protected the girdle and held this diamond securely in place for almost 100 years. The prongs appear a bit worn, but they are still extremely secure. There is some evidence of repair where the head meets the shoulders of the ring, but it's well done and hard to see unless you know where to look. This ring is currently a size 6 and can be easily sized by your local jeweler.
