Blue Zircon is an absolutely breathtaking stone that many people have never heard of! Some people mistakenly assume that it is the same as cubic zirconia, but they are absolutely not the same thing at all. Zircon is a natural mineral with a very high refractive index which results in an insane amount of brilliance. It also has very high dispersion resulting in tons of fire and scintillation. Light enters the stone and is bent at a sharp angle so the light reflects back out of the top of the stone. The light is quickly broken into its spectral colors...rainbows for days! This beautiful example flashes with blues, teals, and purples, and in my opinion, the broad facets and open culet on the old European cut show off this miraculous gem to its very best advantage! This beautiful blue zircon measures 8.66mm in diameter and is held in an elegant two-tone 18k gold, 6 prong crown setting. The stone has some very slight facet abrasions commensurate with age, but is in beautiful vintage condition and will continue to sparkle for generations to come. This ring is currently a size 6.75 and can be easily sized by a trusted jeweler.
