This beautiful antique 18k ring comes to us from the UK, and was essayed in Birmingham in 1918. Inside, it is engraved S.S.S. R.H.W from B.M 1921. It is interesting to note the three sets of initials, and the presence of a year but no specific date. It makes me wonder what the story behind this engraving could have been. Perhaps S.S.S. is a meaningful message between R.H.W. and B.M. (for example, in Spanish S.S.S. stands for "su seguro servidor", "your faithful servant/yours sincerely"), or maybe S.S.S. is a person and these rings bear the initials of three lovers, commemorating a special anniversary in 1921.  Maybe the third initial is a child's and this ring is commemorating a birth. Whatever its significance, it is a beautiful ring that has lived quite a life of love in its 100 plus years on earth. It features a beautiful 0.05ct Old Mine Cut diamond which is set flush and accented with starburst details. The band measures 6.4mm at its widest part, tapering down to 4.3mm at the bottom of the band, and it has a total weight of 5.2 grams. This ring is currently a size 9 and may be sized by a trusted jeweler, but cannot be sized without disturbing the beautiful engraving inside the band.
