H.P. Buckley New Orleans was a successful firm from the mid 1850s until 1903. They specialized in watches, and fine silver. This large box measures 10.5" x 4" x 2.25". Based on the size of this box and the interesting clip in the center, I assume that this was used to present a piece fine silver, perhaps a special serving piece. This very special antique piece is in worn condition, commensurate with age. The green velvet is worn off in many areas and the inner lining has some rips and tears. The clasp is in excellent working condition and even snaps into place. In my opinion, the worn condition adds to the charm and beauty of this piece! How amazing to think of the love it has received and life it has lived for the 117-170 years it has been on earth! This would be a wonderful piece to display, either open or closed, and would be a beautiful place to organize and store your smaller jewelry pouches.
All pieces will be sent with tracking and insurance. A signature will be required for delivery for added security. Sales are final, however, if there is a problem, please contact me ASAP so I can resolve the issue. I want all of my customers to love these jewels as much as I do!.
