This breathtaking antique Edwardian ring c. late 1910s is named for the beautiful Mimì in Puccini's opera La bohème. In her first aria, Mimì enticingly introduces herself to her handsome neighbor Rodolfo and tells him that she passes her days embroidering beautiful flowers onto silk and satin, and breathing in the sweet scent of the roses in her vase when spring comes to visit her in her tiny room. There is no doubt in my mind that she would have fallen madly in love with this deliciously charming floral ring, though it would have been more extravagant than what Rodolfo (a struggling writer) would have been able to afford. On their fist evening out together, Mimì sees a pink bonnet and asks Rodolfo to buy it for her...they both agree that pink is the perfect color for her dark coloring. I like to think that if the story had turned out differently for these lovers, he would have presented her with this ring as a callback to that beautiful evening and the first sweet gift that he gave her.
This romantic ring features a long oval synthetic ruby surrounded by 26 beautiful old mine cut diamonds with a calculated total carat weight of 0.75ctw, H/I color, and VS2-SI1 clarity. They are bead set and arranged in a double halo with the most delectable milgrain scalloped edge. The top of the ring is 14k white gold and the band is 14k yellow gold. This ring has incredible finger presence, measuring a total of 17.4mm x 14.2mm. At its highest point, it rises 5.76mm, and the low setting sits comfortably against the finger, making it very comfortable for daily wear. It is currently a size 7.5 and can be easily sized by a trusted jeweler. This ring has been evaluated and appraised by an Appraiser/GIA Graduate Gemologist at a value of $2,900 and comes with an appraisal which will be made out in the name of the buyer.
