These gorgeous earrings date back to the 1940s when the use of platinum was prohibited for non-military usage and jewelers turned to platinum's close cousin, palladium! Palladium is a gorgeous and durable metal, but is much more labor-intensive (and expensive) to work with than platinum or gold, which is one of the reasons that it is not commonly used in jewelry today. These spectacular earrings are 1.25" long and contain an estimated .55ctw of single cut diamonds (estimated G/H and eye-clean), and two beautiful emeralds measuring 5.5mmx 3mm. Under magnification you can see that the emeralds have some small chips and abrasions commensurate with age, but they are not easily apparent to the naked eye. The body of the earring tests as palladium and the back hinge of the earring is stamped 12k and may have been added later. The leverbacks are secure and comfortable and each earring weighs 2.72 grams.
