Songbird Sara Jewelry

In 1953, Jacqueline Bouvier and John F. Kennedy celebrated their engagement with a sensational Van Cleef & Arpels Bypass Toi et Moi ring featuring an emerald cut emerald and an emerald cut diamond, accented by baguette diamonds along the band. It is interesting to note that the couple shopped for the ring together after the proposal, and apparently it took a bit of time to find the perfect ring. (It is also interesting to note that Jackie would redesign the ring in 1961, adding many more carats of Marquise cut diamonds to the setting.) In 1954 Mel Ferrer proposed to Audrey Hepburn with a set of three bands from well-respected European jeweler, Gübelin of Zurich, one of which was an eternity band of baguette diamonds, channel set in platinum. With two of the world's leading fashion icons sporting these styles, jewelry lovers all of the world clamored to add elegant baguette bands and step cut bypass rings to their collections as well.

This beautiful European-made Toi et Moi bypass ring c.1950s is a perfect combination of both iconic styles and a true representation of the Zeitgeist. It is crafted from palladium (a holdover from the 1940s that was still being used in the early 1950s) and features two stunning emerald-step cut, eye clean, natural sapphires (heat only) measuring 5.7/5.8mm x 4.9/5.00mm x 2.9/3.20mm with a total carat weight of 1.80ctw. They are surrounded by 20 channel set baguette cut diamonds with a total carat weight of 0.50ctw, G/H color, and VVS2/VS1 clarity. This ring is currently a size 5 and can be easily sized up by a trusted jeweler. If a smaller size is needed, small modifications can be made with sizing beads, however I would not recommend making this band any smaller than it already is for fear of damaging the channel setting. This ring has been evaluated and appraised by an Appraiser/GIA Graduate Gemologist at a value of $6,000 and comes with an appraisal which will be made out in the name of the buyer.
